The National Trust for Historic Preservation announced that the Downtown Newark Partnership is a winner of the 2011 Great American Main Street Awards® (GAMSA). Recognized as a leader following the Main Street Four-Point Approach®, embracing sound historic preservation ethics and building strategic partnerships, the Downtown Newark Partnership was honored at the Main Street Awards Ceremony during the National Main Streets Conference in Des Moines, Iowa. Guests of the 7th annual Taste of Newark enjoyed the usual culinary delights of more than 45 Newark restaurants accompanied by fine wines. The variety and selection of great food and drink was unsurpassed, but so was the $57,490.91 raised and donated to organizations within the community.

A culinary and wine extravaganza featuring a dazzling array of tasty delights prepared by the chefs of downtown Newark’s very own restaurants complemented by fine wines from around the world. Participating restaurants select wines to feature and choose a menu to showcase the restaurant’s culinary abilities.

Halloween Parade and Trick-or-Treat Main Street
Newark’s 66th annual Halloween Parade followed by Trick-or-Treat Main Street is drawing near. Plan now to be a part of this special Halloween event, complete with marching bands, floats, antique automobiles, costumed characters and much more.
